Week Wrap Up

We are headed into another weekend!! I just want to take a minute to let all of you know how great your children are! We have a new student and I am very impressed with how nice and helpful everyone was with her! You are truly raising kind and patient children!

I also wanted to say that we are getting cooler weather and if you would like to send extra winter gear to school that would be perfectly okay, it's better to be over prepared than under prepared! I will be getting a hold of those of you who marked that you can help out in class.... we have a few things planned and I would really appreciate the extra help! I will also be sending out a note to ask for permission to post photos of your kiddos on this page..... If you could please mark either way that would be helpful.... This is more for you to see what we are doing in class and to get a peek at your child's day!

Thank you for all of your support it is so wonderful to get comments and feedback from you!

Have a GREAT weekend......  ~Mrs. Wills

Remembering September 11th

Hi Parents!!

Just a heads up we have discussed September 11th- vaguely...... Some of the students wanted to watch videos of the day but I have told them that if they want to do that it would be better to watch with mom and dad so that a good discussion with your family feelings and thoughts could be addressed afterwards. I know this is a sensitive issue for many of us. I have found a video that seems more "kid friendly" it does discuss other topics so I suggest you view it as parents first if that is a route you would like you can view it here:  http://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/ushistory/september11th/ . Otherwise it was a great day! Please remember we have a spelling test, reading test and spelling test tomorrow!

Weekly Recap!!

Hi Parents!!
First of all please let me tell you how happy I am with your children!! They all worked really hard this week to try and get things finished up and even with the week being out of the norm they worked hard to stay on task!
This week you may have heard about Homeworkopoly!! This was a great success! Your students learned quite a bit of material this week so here is a list of things to chat about to help them retain the information!
~We learned how to compare and contrast with a Venn Diagram!
~We played around with Google Earth and explored other areas of our world!
~We read and listened to poetry, and learned that it is meant to be read and heard. We also learned how to make one of the most simple poems an acrostic.
~We worked on complete sentences and  worked on using subjects and predicates correctly.
~We started our family tree project and had fun with some paint...
~We finished up a reading unit, social studies unit and our first math unit!
~We built a town out of paper.....
I have decided that Wednesdays will be our homework nights please let me know if this works for your family!
Yes they are exhausted but hopefully the next few weeks will provide us with the opportunity to get used to our daily schedule and routine.... Please let me know if you have any questions!!
*Mrs. Wills*
Please remember Tuesday is the bring someone special to breakfast school event!!
